REAL RESPONSIBILITY
Corporate social responsibility is a big phrase for a very simple idea – taking care of the community in which we operate. Detpak is proud to take care of its workers and the community in which we operate. We welcome the regular social accountability audits from our global customers.
Ethical practices
Detpak takes pride in being a manufacturer, not simply an importer. We’re proud of the products we make, but we’re equally proud of the way we operate in our plant.
We work to a strict Corporate Social Responsibility Policy, which covers fair wages and working conditions that are consistent with the needs and expectations of our global customers. We pass more than 10 independent audits each and every year from customers and independent bodies.
We focus on areas including fair hiring practices; safe working hours; no child labour; fair compensation and benefits; and workplace safety in all our manufacturing facilities.
Building relationships
Detpak forms part of Mpact as one of the leading paper and plastics packaging manufacturing businesses in Southern Africa as well as the leading recycler of recovered paper and plastics. Through our local connectedness we are able to facilitate introductions and manage relationships beyond our immediate operations.
We aim to add value to our customer relationships, community relationships and the environment.

As a company deeply entrenched in the South African landscape, Detpak chooses to positively impact our community through focusing on long term initiatives impacting communities in a sustainable way.
Our recent initiatives include:
67 blankets for Orlando Children’s Home
In a heartwarming gesture of community support and solidarity, Detpak marked Mandela Day 2024 by donating 67 blankets to the Orlando Children’s home and Youth Development Centre in Soweto.
This contribution reflects Detpak’s commitment to social responsibility and the values that Nelson Mandela championed throughout his life.
INTERNAL RECYCLING PROGRAM
Education starts at home – we recycle our waste! With a large Mpact Recycling waste paper bin displayed on our premises, we understand that waste management starts with separation at source. Employees are actively motivated to sort waste both at home and at the office.
Detpak offers work experience to 5 graduates and 5 internal staff members in the mechanical and electrical engineering fields.
Detpak staff routinely save lives by donating blood at a Detpak hosted drive.
At Detpak, staff are actively encouraged to undertake their own charitable initiatives, which the company supports with leave time, donations or publicity.
